Evergreen Commons volunteers are made up of a diverse group of individuals who want to give back to others in a variety of ways. They are students, adults, church congregations, retirees, service organizations, corporations and county partners. Volunteering at Evergreen Commons offers these individuals the opportunity to be involved in their community, to learn new skills or to use those that they already have all the while getting to know our amazing elders, each of whom has a story to tell.
Volunteers work closely with various departments throughout the facility.
- Primarily volunteers provide transport assistance for our elders from the upper residential floors to their appointments in the Therapy Department, Clinic, Beauty Shop, Barber Shop, Resident Bank and Gift Shop on the second floor.
- Volunteers help with scheduled activity programs such as Bingo, Memory Games and Manicures. They also accompany Activity Staff on off- site shopping trips to provide 1 on 1 escorts for all.
- Clerical volunteers assist our Business & Medical Records Office with mailings, phone coverage and filing.
- On Sundays, volunteers provide morning and afternoon transport assistance, making it possible for residents to attend church services in our 1st floor chapel. Specially trained pastoral volunteers also work closely with the Chaplains, providing private pastoral visits for room bound residents.
The Volunteer office does its best to fit the volunteers with their areas of interest.
